4 COMMON TYPES OF INDUSTRIAL TAPE

The following types of industrial tape are utilized in a variety of settings:

1. DUCT TAPE

Duct tape is a cloth or scrim-backed, pressure-sensitive tape that is typically coated with polyethylene. This type of tape was originally designed for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning purposes, but may be used in a variety of other maintenance, repair, and construction applications due to its unique design and strength. In addition to durability and adhesive strength, duct tape can be utilized in settings with temperatures up to 200°F for up to 30 minutes, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications.

2. ELECTRICAL TAPE

Electrical tape is an adhesive that is used to insulate electrical wires and other items that have an electrical current. This product is typically made of vinyl, stretches well, and provides effective, long-lasting insulation. Electrical tape is classified as commercial grade and is flame retardant, weather resistant, and capable of withstanding temperatures ranging from -10°C to 90°C.

3. PACKING TAPE

Also known as sealing or parcel tape, packing tape is a pressure-sensitive adhesive used for closing or sealing cardboard boxes and other containers. This type of tape consists of a pressure-sensitive adhesive coated onto a backing material made of polypropylene or polyester film. Packing tape is available in a wide range of adhesive strengths and colours, allowing you to choose the ideal option for your needs.

4. MASKING TAPE/PAINTER’S TAPE

Masking tape—also known as painter’s tape—is made of thin and easy-to-tear paper that has an easily removable pressure-sensitive glue. As noted by the name, it is commonly used during painting to protect surfaces from accidental paint exposure. This tape’s adhesive allows for easy removal without leaving residue or damaging the surface it was adhered to. Masking tape is available in a variety of widths and strengths/adhesive levels, allowing you to choose the perfect solution for your project.
